Gifts for Little Music Makers
We all know that instruments and props are the BEST part of any class. Why not bring some of that fun home with you? Use the links below to see Miss. Sally's top gift choices for music-making at home.
(Full disclosure- These are affiliate links and Miss. Sally makes a small percentage from sales if you purchase through the links below. This is of not extra cost to you and helps Miss. Sally fill her own stocking this holiday)
Piano Mat
- Gross motor skills and locomotor skills
- Reinforces Solfege (Do, Re, Mi)
Note- I used these in my preschool and toddler classes all the time when I used to teach in a preschool. The kids LOVED them and it held their attention for some time. We would drive cars over it or throw stuffies on to see if they made a sound.
Percussion Pack
- Fine Motor skills
- Instrument play and exploration
Note- This is similar to the pack of instruments I have in classes. It comes in a convenient carrying bag too. I would recommend removing instruments that you feel your child may not be ready for if needed. Also, it is very fun to rotate them out. I do this in classes from time to time. Sometimes too many choices make them uninterested entirely. Maybe keep some of them back and swap them out from time to time.
Bongo Drums
- Rhythmic play
- Classroom grade for durability
- Just pure FUN
Note- You can not go wrong with a drum! These drums are made for classrooms so you know they will last. In fact, I have these on my own christmas list for The Little Music Corner this year. I have never met a child who wasn't interested in a drum at some point in their life. The most fun gift.
TOY Ukulele
- Fine Motor skills
- Instrument play and exploration
Note- Now, let's remember this is a TOY ukulele and it can not be held to the same standards as my ukulele, however, for the price it is a great gift to give your kiddo the feeling of playing without having to buy a legitimate instrument. I give these out at events sometimes and the children just love them.
Egg Shakers
- Rhythmic play
- Fine Motor skills
-Musical Expression
Note- A staple in any of my music classes, these shakers can not be beat. I always have kids who wqnt to stick their whole hand in the box and just feel the eggs moving around, almost like a sensory bin. How fun to have it at your own house! Fill up a stocking with these guys and call it a day
